First time reading this author and this book is 1 of 4 in a series, which I will probably read also.  The book starts off very interesting, 

Desperate, with nowhere else to run, Nick's nephew, Gabe makes that call one night. After being attacked in Georgetown, his mother, Lauren, lies in a coma, and his step-dad, Roger, Nick's brother, has vanished without a trace.

And continues to be full of twists and turns.  Looking forward to continuing the series.
